Pre-Press Guide Presentation

Methodist University

Title of Project: Pre-Press Guide Presentation
Type: Personal Class Project
Tools Used: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop

Overview:
Created during my Junior/Senior year, Pre-Press Guide Presentation is a 16-page educational booklet developed as a personal class project. The assignment required students to research and present technical design topics through both written content and visual design. Topics covered included RGB vs. CMYK, File Types, Vector vs. Raster Graphics, and more. We were responsible for writing all the copy and designing the entire layout, with creative freedom in how we approached the format and style.

Objective:
The goal of this project was to help us gain a deeper understanding of essential pre-press concepts by requiring us to thoroughly research, write, and design educational content around them. It was designed to strengthen our technical knowledge while encouraging us to think critically about how to effectively communicate complex information through design.

Approach:
I chose to make the guide fun, colorful, and consistent, playing with layout elements like overlapping imagery and mirrored page designs to visually link related topics—such as the RGB and CMYK comparison. My goal was to keep the information short, sweet, and engaging, using playful visuals to support clear, purposeful communication.

Outcome:
The final product is a visually engaging, easy-to-follow 16-page presentation that breaks down complex pre-press topics in a creative way. Through the process of researching, writing, and designing the content, I became more confident and familiar with key production concepts, which has positively influenced my technical understanding and design process moving forward.
