Once the commission is agreed, a 50% non refundable deposit is required and is taken upfront to cover costs. Once the painting is complete, I will email you a jpeg photograph of the piece, on approval and paying the remainder 50% plus p&p.

I will have the painting sent to you within two working days. On average commissions take between 21-28 days to complete, however this is dependant on current workload and canvas's in stock.

Commissioned artworks start from as little as £120.00 excluding postage, taking into account materials used, sizes of canvas etc.

Size Information: All artwork is on wooden framed box canvas's. Any painting is available on any of the canvas sizes shown. We can also supply a canvas at any size on request. Canvas's ordered on this site are three dimensional and have a depth of 18mm (unless stated otherwise). They require no frame, and come ready to hang. All paintings can be created on any size canvas. Please see the list for the standard size options available. Should the size you require not be listed please contact me.

Standard size options:

  • 8" x 20" x 18mm
  • 12" x 16" x 18mm
  • 16" x 20" x 18mm (most popular)
  • 16" x 24" x 18mm
  • 18" x 24" x 18mm
  • 24" x 24" x 18mm
  • 20" x 30" x 18mm
  • 24" x 30" x 18mm

It is not always easy deciding what size canvas would best suit a space, here is some advise on selecting your painting size.

One canvas, or more?

Some designs are best shown on a single canvas, whilst others benefit more being spread over several canvas's. Spreading the design over several canvas's can create a more interesting focal point.

The size of the room?

It is important to consider the size of the wall the piece is being placed on, and the size of the room. If you have a narrow room having one painting in the middle can look lost if its not big enough. Avoid choosing a long painting as this will only make the room look more narrow. For very narrow rooms consider having two paintings and place them at opposite ends of the room, this will bring the walls in, making the room look more square, try to select darker pieces when you do this.

Height of ceilings ?

If you have high ceilings you may consider having more width on your painting rather than height, having a tall painting with high ceilings will only make the ceilings look higher. A painting that is lighter at the bottom and gets darker towards the top will create the illusion of a lower ceiling, just as a painting that gets lighter towards the top will make the ceiling look higher thus creating illusion of space.
There are many considerations to bare in mind when selecting the size of your canvas, these are just a few examples, if you require further assistance then please don't hesitate to contact me.

Colour choice ?

SMR Creative can also colour match to your decor. Please email me to discuss.

Many people are unaware that colour can effect their mood. Experiments have shown that colour can change a persons sense of time, energy and space. The colours we choose also say a lot about our personality.

Why is colour so important in a painting? One painting can completely change the aesthetics of a room. The colours selected can bring warmth, energy, emotion, spirit, passion, and so the list continues.
The question is what do you want to bring to your space? Is it a burst of colour with energy and inspiration or are you looking for a cool, calming approach?

Below is a short guide to what different colours represent and what sort of energy they will bring to a space.

  • Green - Calming, relaxing and nature.
  • Blue - Cool, calming and soothing.
  • Purple - Creative, spiritual and inspirational.
  • Red - Passion, danger and energy.
  • Orange - Warm, happy and bold.
  • Yellow - Bright, uplifting and confident.
  • Neutrals - Natural, easy going and comforting.
  • Pink - Sexy, bright and outgoing.

Warm colours are said to advance and appear more active in a painting and stimulate the viewer, while cool colours recede and give a calm relaxed feel.

This is just a guide.....if you want to change a colour / size of a painting, why not send us your samples / swatches and I will try my best to match them.
